NHL Draft 2014: Complete Round 1 results

The 2014 NHL Draft kicked off on Friday night from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It started off with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman getting booed by the Philly crowd, and then the teams began sending their picks in.

With the first pick in the draft, it was no surprise that the Florida Panthers selected Aaron Ekblad of the OHL’s Barrie Colts.
The Buffalo Sabres selected Sam Reinhart of the WHL’s Kootenay Ice with the No. 2 overall pick, while Leon Draisaitl headed to the Edmonton Oilers to round out the top three of the draft. Draisaitl was the only non-Canadian to be selected in the first seven picks on Friday night.
