The Orlando Magic have already been very busy this offeason.

More from Detroit Pistons

The Magic dealt guard Arron Afflalo to the Denver Nuggets for guard Evan Fournier and the 56th-overall pick, which wound up being former Iowa Hawkeyes’ guard Devyn Marble. They selected former Arizona Wildcats’ forward Aaron Gordon fourth-overall and then traded their 12th-overall pick, Croatian forward Dario Saric, along with a future pick, to the to the Philadelphia 76ers for the 10th-overall selection, former Louisiana Lafayette Ragin Cajuns’ point guard Elfrid Payton.

It looks like they are far from finished.

According to Vince Ellis of The Detroit Free Press, the Magic are expected to show interest in Detroit Pistons’ free agent guard Rodney Stuckey, who will not be re-signed.

"And another motivation is not allowing a young asset to leave without significant compensation.“I think teams think it’s better, especially with younger guys, to have an asset, even if he’s overpaid, that can bring value down the road, than to have a guy go for nothing,” Van Gundy said. The Pistons’ other free agents — Rodney Stuckey and Charlie Villanueva — are not expected to return. Stuckey will receive interest — expect the Orlando Magic to speak with the veteran combo guard. The market for Villanueva isn’t clear."

Interestingly enough, the Pistons selected Stuckey with the 15th-overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. The Pistons acquired that pick when they dealt the number two overall in the famed 2003 draft, Darko Miličić and point guard Carlos Arroyo to the Magic for that pick and veteran center Kelvin Cato.

Stuckey averaged 13.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 43.6% from the field, 27.3% from beyond the arc and 83.6% from his charity stripe last season. In his seven-year career, Stuckey has averaged 13.4 points, 3.9 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game while shooting 42.3% from the floor, 28.6% from beyond the arc and 82.8% from the free throw line.
