NBA Rumors: Derrick Rose won’t recruit Carmelo Anthony
By Josh Hill
Derrick Rose is still trying to rehab his knee so he can return for the season opener this year — something he fully expects to be healthy for — but there are other tasks at hand that the Chicago Bulls may want him to be involved in and helping with.

Thanks to both Derrick Rose’s inability to stay healthy and provide star power for the Bulls on the court as well as a need to find one more big name talent for the team, Chicago is out trying to sign Carmelo Anthony and any other free agent they think will help this upcoming year.
According to Yahoo! Sports insider Marc J. Spears though, who spoke with Rose this weekend at the Drew Gooden Foundation Camp, the Bulls star won’t turn big name free agents away this summer but he will not be recruiting them to come play for his team next season.
"The Chicago Bulls are expected to pursue Carmelo Anthony in free agency. They just shouldn’t expect Derrick Rose to participate in the recruiting.Rose told Yahoo Sports on Sunday that he doesn’t plan to recruit Anthony – or any free agent, for that matter – even though he likes Anthony’s game and thinks they can play alongside each other."
This really shouldn’t be all that surprising to Bulls fans though as Rose has never been receptive to recruiting free agents. He didn’t recruit back in 2010 when Chicago was after LeBron James and Chris Bosh which means his unwillingness to recruit this year is expected.
Still, that doesn’t mean Rose wouldn’t enjoy playing with a big name like Melo, he just isn’t going to lower himself to begging someone to help him lead a team he’s supposed to be the face of.
