The NBA offseason is in full swing and that means we’re starting to hear more and more about Carmelo Anthony and where he will be ending up this summer. The favored destination has long been with the Chicago Bulls but there are still plenty of things that need to be worked out before anything is set in stone.

More from Chicago Bulls

One thing that needs to be worked out is the financial aspect of the Bulls adding Melo as they’re utterly and completely uninterested in going into the luxury tax to pay for the All-Star which means some tough decisions will have to be made.

According to Marc Berman from the New York Post, neither Carmelo Anthony nor the Chicago Bulls want to see Taj Gibson traded to make room for Melo to sign this offseason.

"For the Bulls to get near the $22.5 million figure — and only for four years — they’d have to trade power forward Taj Gibson, among making other moves.“The head coach doesn’t want to trade Taj,’’ one source familiar with the Bulls’ thinking told The Post. The Chicago Tribune reported Anthony doesn’t want Chicago to trade Gibson either. That’s a roadblock."

It’s a roadblock but it’s one that is clearly not as big a deal as it’s being made out to be. There are ways the Bulls can shed salary to make room for Melo and still keep Gibson and the fact that all sides involved are on the same page is very encouraging for talks moving forward.
