One team that may or may not be players on the open market are the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have been mentioned with top flight free agents like Kyle Lowry and others. Pau Gasol is also a name that has been recently mentioned with the Thunder but it looks like their chances of landing him aren’t as likely as we initially may have thought.
If you are a Thunder fan who wanted the team to sign Pau Gasol, avoid Marc Stein’s report on the situation.
Gasol going to the Thunder seemed unlikely to begin with but it didn’t hurt to consider it. If he were to take less money to sign with the Thunder then maybe that would warrant consideration but we don’t know if that’s the case.
One thing that might cause this rumor to go somewhere is that the Thunder would appreciate Gasol which is something he wants after years of being under appreciated in Los Angeles. Still, he might not be interested in taking less money as he’s not chasing a title, he’s won more than a few in the past, and money might be the motivating factor in free agency for Gasol in the end.
