Unlike the meetings with the Bulls and the Rockets, Melo’s visit with the Mavericks lasted all but two hours and seems to have ended with a whimper.
According to Marc Stein from ESPN.com, the Mavericks plan on running out the ground ball they hit on the Melo situation but in the process will be moving fast to sign Chandler Parsons and/or Luol Deng as a backup plan.
This doesn’t mean that the Mavericks are giving up on Melo but their meeting with him lasted two hours where as the meetings with the Bulls on Tuesday and the Rockets earlier on Wednesday were significantly longer.
Dallas is a long shot to land Melo now and they’re at the bottom of the list with the Los Angles Lakers and lower on the list than the New York Knicks. It’s looking like the chase for Melo is a three dog race with the Rockets and Bulls fighting it out for the lead.
