Fantasy Baseball Stats: Daily All-Stars from July 2

Wednesday was something of weird day of fantasy baseball stats. We had a game finish with a 9-3 score, with the winning team getting no spots on today’s list and the losing team getting not one, but two.

We also had three of the four spots belong to the hitters, but the best performer, by far, was a pitcher. So, let’s get to it.

Tyson Ross — San Diego Padres

This was a gem, nothing more, nothing less. Ross was dealing from the beginning against the Reds, and the line shows it. There were some other good performances today, but Ross had the best day of any individual player by a mile.

In terms of ownership, Ross is about 50-50, but he should be owned in more leagues. He was 0-4 in his previous five outings, but three of those five games were quality starts, and he pitched at least seven innings in all of them. He can definitely help pitching staffs everywhere, especially in a league that counts quality starts instead of wins.

1. Brandon Moss — Oakland Athletics

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Not getting Moss in an auction and ending up with money in the bank will haunt me if I don’t end up winning that league. He’s an absolute stud.

Wednesday’s game was about as good as it gets. Moss’ teammates certainly could have done more for him, but he still found a way to put up a dominant stat line for his fantasy owners.

2. Justin Ruggiano — Chicago Cubs

I could have made a case for Ruggiano above Moss, but this day helped basically no fantasy players. Still, five RBI just can’t be ignored.

Long term, there’s probably little to no fantasy value for Ruggiano, but he was dominant against the Red Sox on Wednesday and his teammates supplied plenty of help.

3. Coco Crisp — Oakland Athletics

As the stats show, Crisp and Moss were both on point against Justin Verlander and the Tigers, as one of them scored or drove in every run for Oakland.

Crisp might have been something of a regression candidate entering the year but he’s had a great first half, even while battling some injuries. If you got him late in the draft, you should be proud of yourself.
