Carmelo Anthony rumors: Lakers, Knicks and Bulls engaged in three-way battle
By Jack Crosby
This year’s NBA free agency period has been one of the wildest that we have seen in quite some time, and that’s largely due to the fact that there are so many big names up for grabs. One of them is New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, who it appears is now the centerpiece of a three-way love triangle involving the Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls.

On Saturday, ESPN’s Bill Simmons indicated on twitter that there is a battle brewing between the three organizations, with the Lakers currently carrying a lot of momentum in the negotiating process after making quite the impression on the star.
However, before this report on Saturday, it has been indicated that Carmelo has been leaning toward staying with the Knicks, even after traveling around this past week and listening to some interesting pitches from the teams that covet him.
The Bulls were the first team that Melo met with on Tuesday, the first day the free agency period got underway. He spent some time with the brass, and even took part in a Derrick Rose workout.
The Lakers and Knicks were two of the last teams that he met with this week, but after he did, they both indicated that they were ready to toss that max money on the table to get him in place to help them win a title.
First, he spent time with the Los Angeles organization, where that ‘big impact’ was made. But following that, literally hours after, the Knicks, who had flown out to the west coast specifically to meet with their star, made a grand pitch of their own as well.
Things are coming down to the wire, though, and very soon Carmelo will have to decide which one of these teams is the best fit for him.
