The Phoenix Suns are still in the running, somehow, to land LeBron James should he decide that he wants nothing more to do with the Miami Heat. But while LeBron is no doubt a major target for the Suns, they’re not about to wait around for him before making moves to better their team.

One of the biggest pieces the Suns have is point guard Eric Bledsoe and he’s a player that more than a few teams have eyes on moving forward this offseason. Bledsoe is a restricted free agent, meaning that he can’t just go wherever he pleases but other teams can drive the price up for the Suns in an attempt to steal him away.

Nevertheless, Bledsoe and the Suns are not waiting for the free agency chips to fall before making a decision on their future together, as Marc J. Spears from Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Bledsoe and the Suns are in the early stages of working out a new deal.

This is notable in that Bledsoe and the SUns aren’t living by the unwritten code that the rest of the market is living by in that nothing major can happen until Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James sign.

Both of those players control the greater free agent market but not the one Bledsoe is in. Interestingly enough, there have been rumors that Bledsoe and the Heat could make partners in order to bring back LeBron James, but his not waiting for the market to find itself is both good for the Suns and perhaps another nail in the coffin for Pat Riley and the Big 3.
