WWE RAW results, live blog (July 7, 2014): Live coverage in progress

With just a few weeks left before the Battleground pay-per-view takes place, we’re getting set for another edition of WWE Monday Night RAW on Monday evening, and things are certainly going to get interesting.

More from WWE

It’ll be hard to top last week’s edition of RAW, which was one of the more eventful in quite some time, but the developments from last week’s actions should be fun to watch.

Most noticeably, people will want to see the progress in the feud between Chris Jericho and Bray Wyatt. Last week, Jericho surprised everyone with his most recent return to the company, but after getting some cheers by attacking the Miz, he quickly became the next target of Wyatt and the Family.

These two going at it should be the show-stealer of the summer.

Then we had the return of AJ Lee, followed up by her revenge victory over Paige, which rewarded here the Diva’s championship. Now whether or not they continue this feud remains to be seen, as some believe that Paige will be sent back down to NXT for some more polishing.

Of course, to cap it all off, we’ll have the progression of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture and the upcoming Battleground main event with the champion John Cena facing off against Randy Orton, Roman Reigns and Kane.

The past few weeks, especially last week, of WWE television has been about as eventful as we could ask for, and hopefully Monday should be no different.

As always, stop back here at 8 PM ET as we follow along with the RAW coverage live as it unfolds, and in the mean time, please be sure to get the conversation started with your predictions for Monday in the comments below.

Opening Segment

Prior to RAW getting kicked off on Monday night, they showed a video package recapping what went down last week between John Cena and the Authority, leading up to the Battleground main event being set.

The show then officially opens with Roman Reigns’ music hitting to a loud ovation and he makes his way through the crowd, giving folks a fist bump along the way.

He gets in the ring and gets on the mic. He says unlike some people, when he comes down to the ring, he comes down with a point. Reigns calls out Triple H, who is not in attendance tonight, and he goes on to say how he can take care of everyone in the Battleground main event with him because he assesses and he attacks.

The crowd chants “Cena sucks” and Roman says that they’re damn right, when he’s in the house, Cena does suck, which drew another huge reaction from the crowd.

He’s interrupted by Kane, who comes out onto the top of the stage.

Reigns immediately calls Kane Triple H’s lap dog, and then calls him Randy Orton’s bitch, which prompts the demon to come down to the ring.

Roman goes right after Kane on the outside, but Kane quickly gets the upper hand. The two then head into the stands and continue brawling. They get back to the ring area and the officials come down to break it up, and Kane choke slams a referee, which brings out more officials to separate the two.

Next, Reigns starts taking out the officials and he stands tall in the ring to end the segment.

Luke Harper and Erick Rowan vs. the Usos

Harper and Jey get the start and begin trading blows. Jey quickly gets the upper hand with a nice cross body block, followed by a kick and then Jimmy gets the tag. Rowan tries to make the save, but he gets tossed to the outside.

Back in the ring, Harper starts the onslaught on Jimmy in the corner. Jimmy is able to get a right hand in, but he quickly gets dropped by Harper and then stomped on. Rowan then gets the tag and hie continues the dismantling of Jimmy.

On the mat, Rowan starts twisting the neck until the ref breaks it up. After the break, Jimmy is able to get the tag to Jey, who comes in and starts taking it to Rowan, but that does not last very long before Rowan gets right back on the offensive.

Harper gets another tag in, and then Rowan gets another one literally seconds later. They cut to a break.

Back from commercial, Rowan is still in control as the Wyatt Family continue to dominate this one.

The action starts to pick up as the two teams trade near falls. Harper gets sent to the outside, but comes back in and nails a vicious clothes line for the win.

Winners: Harper and Rowan

Nikki Bella vs. Alicia Fox

Both Divas, per the Authority, had to have one arm tied behind their backs.

Nikki had her arm tied behind her back, while Alicia just went completely wild and started beating her all over the place, effectively sucking the life out of the crowd in the arena. This will more than certainly win the worst segment of the night.

Back from commercial after that horrible segment, Lana and Rusev are in the ring before they’re interrupted by RVD.

RVD vs. Rusev

RVD tries to get the offense going quickly, even hitting a nice DDT on Rusev from the apron. No long after, though, Rusev catches him on the top rope and starts pummeling.

Van Dam was able to counter at one point and lock in a small package, but he was only able to get a two count. He goes for Rolling Thunder, but Rusev catches him with a huge kick. He locks in the Camel Clutch and RVD taps.

Winner: Rusev

Randy Orton vs. Dean Ambrose

Randy Orton is out first, followed by Dean Ambrose to an extremely loud pop once again.

Right off the bat, Ambrose dares Orton to throw the first punch before they lock up and move into the corner. Orton quickly makes his way to the outside to buy some early time.

Eventually Randy gets back into the ring and they lock up once again before Ambrose gets to work on Orton’s arm on the mat. Orton counters with an elbow and then gets to work on the bad shoulder of Ambrose.

After a few more counters, Ambrose gets back on the offensive and hits a nice clothesline on Orton from the corner, but Randy gets right back in it by bouncing Ambrose off the turnbuckle. He climbs the ropes and starts pummeling, but then Ambrose reverses that and gets in some shots of his own, followed by a dropkick against the ropes.

Ambrose goes for another submission, but Orton counters and nails a tremendous clothesline. Before the commercial break, Ambrose gets back in control and tosses Randy to the outside.

Back from the commercial, Orton is in control after he threw Ambrose into the steel steps on the outside, shoulder first. He has Ambrose on the mat, and then lands a dropkick off the ropes, but he only gets a two count.

Following a whip into the ropes, Ambrose nails a DDT on Orton, but the shoulder is holding him back from attempting the pin. The two then trade blows in the middle of the ring, with Ambrose getting the upper hand eventually.

After some more back and forth, Ambrose locks in a Figure Four, but Randy doesn’t tap. Dean goes to the top rope, but he gets caught by Orton who then hits a standing dropkick, with only a two count as a result.

Bouncing off the ropes, Ambrose catches Orton with a clothesline and is back in control. He tosses Orton to the outside and tosses him into the barricade before going for some chairs. He starts tossing a slew of chairs into the ring!

After some more back and forth, Orton is able to get the clean win with the RKO after an amazing finishing sequence.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Alberto Del Rio

Once again, Ziggler gets jobbed out on RAW from another kick to the head by Del Rio. Shocking, I know.

Bret Hart Returns

Before Bret comes out, Jerry Lawler thanks all the fans for their support after he suffered the heart attack in Montreal a few years ago. Right after that, though, he brought out the Hitman to a huge pop.

Bret grabs the microphone and thanks the Montreal fans in French. He says no matter what happened here in the past, it’s always an honor to be back here.

He says that if he could lace up his boots one more time, it would be in Montreal in front of those fans. Bret says that he has chills just thinking about it.

He’s interrupted by Damien Sandow, dressed as Bret!

Sandow says that he wants to present the real best there is, best there was and best there ever will be: Bret the Hitman Sandheart.

He then starts trolling Bret about the Montreal Screwjob, which really gets the fans fired up. To garner even more heat, he calls Canada a third world country.

Sandow gets right in Bret’s face, and is immediately hit with a right hand from the Hitman and sent out to the floor.

This was a nice little return from the Hitman, as it’s always nice to see Bret in the middle of a WWE ring.

Sheamus vs. Sandow

After the Bret appearance, Sheamus came out and made quick work of Sandow with the Brogue kick for the win.

The Miz vs. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho is out first to a loud pop from the Canadian crowd, as usual. That was followed up by the Miz’s awful new entrance.

Right after the bell, the two lock up before Jericho gets the upper hand and sends the Miz out to the floor. As he tries to get back into the ring, Jericho nails the patented running dropkick. Y2J goes outside and tosses Miz right back into the ring and hits the bulldog.

Following that sequence, Miz is able to turn the tables and send Jericho to the outside. He gets him back into the squared circle and starts the onslaught.

Jericho is able to counter eventually and get back on the offensive. After fails to toss Jericho over the top, he’s met with an ax handle from the top.

Not long after, Jericho was able to lock in the Walls for the win.

Right after, though, Bray Wyatt showed up and the top of the ramp in his chair with a microphone in hand and the two had a tremendous back and forth. As Jericho went to go up the ramp, Harper and Rowan showed up and quickly put a stop to it.

This feud is going to be tremendous.

Cesaro vs. Kofi Kingston

For the second week in a row, Kofi was able to get the upset win over the Swiss monster, and once again, he paid for it after the match. This time, though, Big E came out to make the save.

Bo Dallas vs. El Torito

Torito actually got some comedy offense in on this one, but in the end, Dallas got the win after he hit a hard forearm shot from the outside, followed up by the running bulldog.

John Cena vs. Seth Rollins

This one gets off to a real fast pace, and then they cut right to commercial.

After some nice back and forth between these two, Kane makes his way out to the ring, but he’s merely a diversion as Randy Orton attacks Cena from behind. This brings out Roman Reigns, but Rollins ends up taking him out with the briefcase, followed by Cena.

Just as he’s about to cash in, though, Dean Ambrose comes out once again to stop the attempt.
