The Boston Celtics were rumored rather heavily before the NBA Draft to be close to trading for Kevin Love, but no trade ended up happening and it doesn’t seem to be an closer to getting done anytime soon.

In fact, the Celtics’ window to acquire Love may have closed as the once seemingly fruitful trade talks have withered away and seem to be a distant memory at this point.

According to the Boston Herald, the Wolves haven’t spoken with the Celtics in sometime about a Kevin Love trade and their interest level in what Boston has to offer is incredibly low.

"The club is still trying to land its most desired prize, Kevin Love, but according to two NBA sources, the Celts and Timberwolves have not spoken in more than a week. What was reported here before the draft when what little discussion there was between the teams broke down is still the case: the only way the talks get revived is if Minnesota changes its stance on what it will accept for Love, or if the Wolves believe the Celtics can get them the players they want in a separate deal.“Minnesota didn’t want anything Boston had two weeks ago, and it’s crazy to think that’s changed this fast,” said one league source. “They may change their mind at some point, but I still think that’s going to take some time.”"

This should be expected as one of the main tools the Celtics had at their disposal to make a trade happen was the No. 6 overall pick in the draft, but the spent it on Marcus Smart instead of trading it to the Wolves.

It’s possible that Boston uses Smart in a trade package with Minnesota but the Wolves no longer seem that interested in making a deal which means Love is going to be heading somewhere other than Boston this offseason — assuming he’s moved at all.
