In 2015, the NBA All-Star Game is taking their talents to New York City. Not Madison Square Garden, but divided between that famous arena and the Barclays Center.
On Thursday they unveiled the All-Star Game’s logo which is inspired by the city’s public transportation and signs you see around the city. The black background has the year in circles with various colors as backgrounds, like how trains are identified on subway signs. Two of the numbers are in black circles, one number is in an orange circle, and the last number is in a blue circle, all have white numbers. Those are the colors of the two NBA franchises in New York City, the black and white for the Brooklyn Nets and the orange and blue for the New York Knicks.
From the New York Daily News:
"It’ll be fifth All-Star game in New York next February 15, but the first time the weekend will be shared by two boroughs. The Friday and Saturday events – which include the Slam Dunk and 3-point contests – will be held in Barclays Center. Sunday’s All-Star Game will be at Madison Square Garden. As part of the agreement to split the All-Star Game, the Barclays Center will be given the chance to host Sunday’s All-Star game as early as 2017. According to the NBA, the 2012 All-Star Game in Orlando generated $95 million for the Florida city in “economic impact.”"
