Thiago Silva escapes red card, gets yellow instead in baffling decision by referee
By Mike Dyce
Brazil is looking to recover from an embarrassing 7-1 loss to Germany in the World Cup semifinals. They were with out superstar Neymar, who is injured, and captain Thiago Silva, who was serving a suspension for yellow cards.
The Brazilian team are looking to restore some pride to the Brazilian soccer fans, but things got off to a rocky start. Just two minutes into the game Silva almost got sent off.
He probably should’ve been sent off with a straight red card but some how managed to get a yellow. Arjen Robben had beaten him and was headed in on goal when Silva pulled him down by the shoulder and taking down an attacker who is past the defense and just has the keeper to beat is a red card offense.
Some how Silva only got a yellow, though the Netherlands and Robin van Persie converted the penalty kick to take the lead.
