By Josh Hill
The Chicago Bulls made moves during the season that freed up cap space but didn’t tank their season and that cap space is now being eaten through like the acid blood in Aliens eats through metal.

Despite trading Luol Deng and freeing up cap space by acquiring and cutting Andrew Bynum, the Bulls are already running out of money and have spent most of the cash they don’t have yet from a Carlos Boozer amnesty that might not ever happen. According to K.C. Johnson from the Chicago Tribune, the Bulls have earmarked most of the $10.3 million they’d get from amnestying Boozer on Pau Gasol’s new contract with the team.
"Signing him with cap space means the Bulls will have to get creative to add Mirotic and address perimeter depth. An amnesty of Boozer gives the Bulls roughly $10.3 million of space, much of that earmarked for Gasol."
Chicago needs to find shooting guard help and it’s an area of desperate need that hasn’t yet been addressed in free agency. There was talk of possibly acquiring Arron Afflalo from the Orlando Magic but those plans fell through when the Denver Nuggets acquired him instead.
The Bulls traded for shooting help in Doug McDermott but fans have wanted a true shooting guard for years to run alongside Derrick Rose and the 2014 offseason has marked the fourth straight year where such a thing has not been found.
