However, there hasn’t been much progress made in contract talks.
Many believed that Allen would join the Cavaliers after LeBron James committed to return to the team and signed a two-year, $42.1 million deal, but there is an interesting reason for why Allen has been hesitant to sign a deal.
According to Marc Spears of Yahoo, that reason is because Ray Allen is considering retirement.
Spears writes:
Heat free agent Ray Allen isn't pressed to choose a team because he isn't certain if he still wants to play or retire, source told Yahoo.

If Allen retires, it will have been a great career that provided many exciting moments on the court.
But if Allen ultimately decides to resume his career in the NBA, the Cavaliers would have to be considered among the favorites to land the veteran shooting guard.
