Both teams entered the Apertura considered as dark horses to make some waves in the league table, so the hope for each side was to come away with the win and earn an early three points.

The match was a hard fought battle with neither team finding the back of the net throughout the first 45 minutes of the match.

As the game progressed in the second half, both teams were picking up the aggression and we were treated to some quality scoring chances.

Luckily for both sides, goalkeepers Edgar Eduardo Castillo and Nahuel Guzmán were both playing at a high level and were able to keep a scoreless draw heading in to the final 20 minutes of the match.

In the 72nd minute, Atlas got the opportunity they were waiting for after Tigres forward Marco Rubén picked up his second yellow of the match for a hard foul in the midfield and was sent off with a red card.

Despite having the man advantage, Atlas was unable to find any openings in the attacking third.

Hernán Burbano had a great chance deep in the box for Tigres in the 89th minute, but he sailed the ball just wide of the target. Jorge Torres followed up with another quality scoring opportunity in stoppage time, but Rojinegros defender Facundo Erpen saved the day by getting his foot just in front of the shot.

Atlas got one final chance in the closing minute of the game after being given a corner kick, but they were unable to convert.

When the final whistle blew, we ended the match where we started with a 0-0 scoreline on the board.
