The Washington Redskins are hoping to bounce back from what was a very disappointing season in 2013, but there may not be as many changes as one would imagine.

More from NFL

Despite Jay Gruden taking over as the Redskins head coach for Mike Shanahan, star quarterback Robert Griffin III says that the team’s offense is very similar than it was when Shanahan was running the show.

“Having two years experience running a pro-level offense, West Coast type, this is very similar,” Griffin said, via the Washington Post. “All the concepts translate over. The reads are similar. It’s just about the philosophy of the coach.”

That may not be the news that Redskins fans would want to hear about the direction that their team is heading, but it may work.

The biggest problem for Washington under Shanahan seemed to be a poor relationship between Griffin and Shanahan, so perhaps the offensive scheme will work as long as the team’s head coach and starting quarterback are on the same page.

We will have to wait and see how the team looks on the field before passing any judgement, but for the sake of the Redskins and their fan base there will hopefully be some progress.
