It’s sounding like the Wolves and Cavs will indeed strike a deal at some point but the moving parts have changed from involving Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett to Wolves trade chips Gorgui Dieng and Kevin Martin.
According to Sam Amico from Fox Sports Ohio, the Cavaliers are discussing both Dieng and Martin in trade talks for Love.
Martin is someone the Wolves want to include because they’re done with his bad contract after just one season of having it and that’s where Dieng comes in as a deal sweetener. It’s not a situation that will be easily fixed, as Dieng is a massive pillar in the Wolves future as he’s an incredibly valuable chip.
But the Wolves would be getting back two No. 1 overall picks and future unused first round picks in the trade, which seems to make it worth their while considering how it speeds up the rebuilding process, no matter how valuable Dieng might be to them at the moment.
