Former Minnesota Twins and New York Yankees star Chuck Knoblauch was arrested and charged with allegedly beating his ex-wife in Houston on Thursday.

More from MLB

Knoblauch hasn’t had an easy life since he retired from baseball and that’s something that has been unfortunate to watch given how good he was on the diamond. But a solid career doesn’t make up for the things that Knoblauch has done post-baseball and this latest incident seems to highlight his fall from grace.

According to Pro Hardball Talk, the Twins were supposed to honor Knoblauch next month at Target Field but have scrapped those plans after learning of his arrest for allegedly beating up his wife.

"Knoblauch had been scheduled to be inducted into the Twins’ team Hall of Fame next month in a ceremony at Target Field, but the Twins just announced the cancellation of that event–and apparently his induction, period–in the wake of this news."

This incident is just another sad example of what happens to some stars after their playing days are over. Knoblauch’s post-playing career is a story we hear all too often across sports as it shows that even those we looked up to growing up sometimes aren’t the gods we made them out to be.
