After running back Kendall Hunter watched his season come to an early end because of a torn ACL on Friday, the 49ers watched LaMichael James get carted off of the practice field.
According to CSN Bay Area, James was carted off the field with an apparent arm or wrist injury.
James suffered the injury while picking up blitzes during a drill.
The timing of the injury couldn’t be worse for James, who appeared to have a roster spot and extensive playing time guaranteed after the injury to Hunter.
San Francisco will obviously hope that the injury is not too severe, but depth at running back is one of the biggest strengths on the 49ers roster so they should be able to find someone to step up.
Outside of Hunter and James, it is Carlos Hyde, Marcus Lattimore and Jewel Hampton behind starter Frank Gore.
