Cowboys rookie Demarcus Lawrence carted off the field during practice with leg injury
By Jack Crosby
The Dallas Cowboys really could have went without another injury in training camp, especially on the defensive side of the ball. But it seems they couldn’t as rookie defensive end Demarcus Lawrence had to be carted off the field Tuesday evening after an apparent ankle injury.
Back in May at the NFL Draft, the Cowboys traded up 13 spots in the draft on the second day, specifically targeting the pass rushing specialist out of Boise State with the no. 37 overall pick. With the absence of DeMarcus Ware, who is now with the Denver Broncos, team owner Jerry Jones and head coach Jason Garrett were hoping that this young man could eventually be molded into as solid of a replacement off the edge as possible.

But now they will have to put those plans on hold for the time being as they figure out which direction they have to go with this ankle injury. Once he gets all the tests done with, then they can figure everything out from there.
Last season at Boise State, Lawrence totaled 72 tackles, including 20.5 for loss with 10.5 sacks.
