The Seattle Seahawks aren’t known for their free agent signings but when they do go out and spend money, they do so in a manner that seems to make a lot of sense in more than one way.

More from NFL

Seattle has again done that with the signing of NFLPA president Eric Winston, who announced on Twitter that he has signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks as of Tuesday. The move not only adds another veteran voice to a young Seahawks team looking to repeat as Super Bowl champs but also puts one of the more powerful players in the entire NFL on the roster.

Winston was elected as the NFLPA president this year and he joins a roster which is suffering the holdout of one of its best offensive weapons. There may be strategy in getting Marshawn Lynch talked down by Winston, but at the end of the day this was a football signing through and through as Winston is a veteran tackle who can not only come in and play hard but can mentor a Seahawks offensive line that needs to protect Russell Wilson this upcoming season.
