Urban Meyer still baffled NFL isn’t interested in Tim Tebow
By Mike Dyce
The NFL has given the stiff arm to former Heisman Trophy winning Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow. The passer had a knack for winning but was by all measures a horrendous NFL quarterback.

No team has given Tebow an offer of the time of day since he was cut from the Patriots’ training camp. The fact that Tim Tebow isn’t in the NFL escapes the comprehension of Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer, who coached Tebow at Florida.
“I still don’t get that part of it,” Meyer said Tuesday at Big Ten Media Days. “He’s the second-most efficient passer ever to play college football.”
Well lots of great college quarterbacks don’t translate over to the NFL, this is hardly the first instance, so pointing to his college abilities isn’t a great argument. Meyer is confident that Tebow will succeed in whatever path he takes, which appears to be a college football analyst at the moment.
“He’ll be successful in whatever he does, but he’s such a good player,” Meyer said. “I just wish it would work out for him.”
Meyer is still hopeful that an NFL team gives him a chance and thinks the right offensive scheme would allow him to succeed.
“He had really good personnel around him (at Florida) and we utilized his skill very well,” Meyer said. “I think in a traditional setting, it is difficult, but there’s a lot of non-traditional offenses now in the NFL.”
