NFL: 10 players who will become stars in 2014
By Pete Schauer
Cecil Shorts, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Cecil Shorts was on the verge of becoming a stud wideout after a 979-yard, seven-touchdown season in 2012, and while I won’t say that he digressed in 2013, he didn’t exactly elevate his game. Now, the shaky QB situation in Jacksonville is a big part of that, but something tells me this is the season where Shorts makes his mark on the NFL.
A more balanced running game, with the addition of Toby Gerhart at running back–and the drafting of wideout Marqise Lee should do wonders for Shorts, who enters his fourth season in the league.
Now, it’s been reported that Shorts will miss at least the first two preseason games of the year with a hamstring strain, but I’m not worried. There’s plenty of time for Shorts to heal up before the Jag’s Week 1 matchup at the Philadelphia Eagles.
Shorts is the best offensive option Jacksonville has, so you know the Jaguars are going to do everything they can to get their 26-year-old WR back out on the field.
