The Miami Dolphins added a quality piece this off-season in former Denver Broncos’ running back Knowshon Moreno. By adding him to the mix, the Dolphins immediately improved the level of play from their backs both in terms of running and in terms of pass protection, not to mention the boost to their team’s “tears during the national anthem” game.

Now the Dolphins just have to wait until they can actually see their new back in action. Moreno, who has been dealing with knee issues for a while now, says he is unsure if he will be ready for any preseason action at all in advance of the 2014 regular season.

From the Miami Herald:

"“I feel good, but at the same time, I just want to be right, be real good, so when I go out there, I can just be full-speed and not have any setbacks……When asked if he expects to be back for at least one preseason game, Moreno responded: “I don’t know. I don’t know. I really don’t even know. I just want to take each day one at a time. They have a schedule for me and they’re just going to tell me every day what I have to do, and I just go out there and do it.”"

At age 27, Moreno had an up-and-down time of it over the course of his rookie deal with the Broncos. He did finally break out last season, as Denver leaned on him to carry the load as rookie Montee Ball got settled into the pace of the NFL.

Once healthy, Moreno will join Lamar Miller in the backfield as Miami tries to improve on their putrid running game from one year ago.
