Detroit Pistons’ restricted free agent big man Greg Monroe is perhaps the top player remaining on the market. Although restricted free agents Chandler Parsons and Gordon Hayward received monster deals, Monroe, along with Phoenix Suns’ guard Eric Bledsoe, haven’t found a team to sign them to the offer sheet they desire. That’s because it is widely believed both the Pistons and Suns would match all offers for both players.

More from Detroit Pistons

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders still believes the Pistons will still match all offers for Monroe.

"Suns have the same problem the Bucks do with Bledsoe… anything Greg would sign the Pistons would match. The Suns don’t have the space to just sign him to a crazy deal, and Detroit would want a ton in exchange for a sign and trade with Monroe……The number teams would offer Greg ($10-$12 million) the Pistons would match. There is no leverage to force a better deal, so this plays out until Greg either finds a sign and trade the Pistons would do or he agrees to a deal on their terms. This is the same thing going on with Eric Bledsoe."

That doesn’t mean Monroe is unattainable, it would likely just take a sign-and-trade offer that blew the Pistons away to get a deal done. With the Pistons building around center Andre Drummond and forward Josh Smith having a contract that isn’t very trade-friendly, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Pistons eventually cut ties with Monroe – they just won’t let him walk for nothing.

Monroe put up 15.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 65.7% from the free throw line last season.
