Oakland Raiders list Darren McFadden as no. 2 RB behind Maurice Jones-Drew
By Jack Crosby
Even with the offseason acquisition of Maurice Jones-Drew, it has been widely believed that Darren McFadden would be listed as the starting running back for the Oakland Raiders on the official depth chart. Well the first chart for the team this preseason has been released, and well, that is not the case.

In the initial depth chart released by the Raiders, McFadden is in fact listed as the no. 2 running back, behind the versatile Jones-Drew, which could end up raising a few eyebrows.
But again, this is only the first depth chart that has been released by the team, and not many should read too much into this. As a matter of fact, should McFadden even be listed as no. 2 right before the regular season starts, not too many people should get too worried.
The Raiders are in a good situation with the running back position having both Jones-Drew and McFadden on the roster, and as many have speculated for quite some time now, when it comes time for the games to matter, both back will more than likely be utilized equally in the offensive scheme.
For right now, though, McFadden is the no. 2 back behind Jones-Drew, and even with everything explained above, people will surely end up reading too much into it and proclaim McFadden’s run in Oakland all but done.
