49ers news: Marcus Lattimore still has no timetable for a return
By Jack Crosby
The San Francisco 49ers will open up their 2014 preseason on Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens, but one man that will not be taking the field for the NFC contenders is second-year running back Marcus Lattimore, who is still trying to full recover from knee surgery. And according to Matt Maiocco, there is still no timetable for when we could see him.
Lattimore, whose college career at South Carolina came to an abrupt end in a game against Tennessee where he tore everything in his knee, has not been coming along as the team had hoped by this point.

The Niners drafted Lattimore last year, despite the uncertainty surrounding his playing status. He did participate in some drills with the team this past spring, but it was really nothing more than catching a few passes and some slight cuts.
There has also been some talk as of late that Lattimore may actually sit out this season as well, as recent comments from head coach Jim Harbaugh were less than convincing that we could see the former SEC star on the field in 2014.
But one thing is for sure, and that is that we will not see him on Thursday night, other than on the sidelines.
