Sunday night saw one of the best finishes that golf could provide in the final round of the PGA Championship, but when it was all said and done, it was the man that continues to take the world by storm, Rory McIlroy, that walked away with the win, holding off Phil Mickelson. Aside from being one of the best golfers on the planet, McIlroy also showed he has some good hands, as he made the ultimate save.

As he was being presented with the trophy on Sunday night, the top fell right off, and everyone held their breath for a second.

But have no fear, because McIlroy was not going to let anything ruin this moment for him, so he made the incredible save.

Is there anything that he can’t do? That could have been a rather disastrous moment. And while we’ve seen some trophies break before, generally they’re just pranks pulled. This would have been very real and it would have played out in front of millions of people watching.

But it did not happen, and McIlroy can now take the trophy home in one piece, and place it with the others that he is rapidly collecting as of late.

This was his fourth major championship, and his third PGA victory in a row.
