The Miami Heat lost LeBron James this summer but they’re working to pick up the pieces now that they know he’s not going to be back.

Miami signed pieces like Luol Deng and Danny Granger in the offseason but some fans are wondering why other veteran free agents still out there haven’t been brought in.
According to Ira Winderman from the Sun Sentinel, the reason the Heat didn’t go out and sign a bunch of the veteran free agents on the market was due to both the salary cap restrictions that exist in the CBA and because the Heat are looking to build a cohesive team.
"That said, there also is the matter of building a cohesive team. I think one of the most difficult facets of recent Heat seasons was having so many players on the roster who thought they merited playing time, when even if they did, there simply were not enough minutes to go around. Just about every name you mentioned is someone trying to revive a career, who likely would crave minutes."
Miami very well could have signed the likes of Emeka Okafor, Elton Brand or Ronnie Brewer but there just isn’t enough minutes to go around for players looking to revive their careers in South Beach.
Then again, that could just be a crutch as the Heat were blindsided by LeBron’s decision to leave and they are still picking up the pieces almost a month later.
