The Seahawks can breathe easier knowing that star running back Marshawn Lynch is no longer being investigated for assault by the Bellevue Police Department.

The PD released a statement clearing Lynch of any wrongdoing:

"The Bellevue Police Department has determined that Marshawn Lynch was not involved in this incident in any way. This case remains an open and active investigation. We appreciate the cooperation we have received from Mr. Lynch and the Seahawks organization during this investigation."

The incident in question happened Saturday night at an apartment unit in Bellevue, Washington and reportedly involved assault and property damage. The police report says a woman “alleged that the suspect was Marshawn T. Lynch.” The first hint that the allegations might be less-than-legit was a report that the woman made the accusations 12 hours after the alleged incident through an after hours intercom.

The Seahawks moved quickly to show their support of Lynch, stating that the accusations were bogus. Lynch himself made no public statement because he never makes any public statements about anything.

Lynch does have a record of prior arrests including a 2008 hit and run, a 2009 weapons charge and a 2012 DUI. His offseason has been a tumultuous one, what with his skipping of the White House trip, his hold out for more money and his slime bath.
