Mike Glennon, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback

Whether or not you’re a Bucs fan, you have to feel for Glennon, who’s been relegated to clipboard duties under new Bucs coach Lovie Smith. This, after holding his own as a starter in 2013, throwing for 2,608 yards and 19 touchdowns in 13 games.

Smith instead opted to bring in his own guy, veteran Josh McCown, who’s been named the team’s starter. Say this for Smith, though: He tried to give Glennon a better opportunity, reportedly attempting — and failing — to execute a trade this offseason. When that fell through, he entrenched Glennon as McCown’s backup.

A statuesque 6-foot-6 signal-caller, Glennon offers nothing in terms of dual-threat abilities, but has a live arm and shows solid command of the huddle. If he were traded to, say, the Texans, he’d give the incumbent, Ryan Fitzpatrick, a run for his money. Alas, he’s stuck in Tampa Bay for the foreseeable future.
