Philadephia 76ers likely to acquire Amare Stoudemire before trade deadline
By Josh Hill
The Philadelphia 76ers were rumored to be interested in a trade with the New York Knicks that would have landed them Amare’ Stoudemire but the deal never came together the way to team hoped it might.

That doesn’t mean a deal is dead though as the Sixers wanting to acquire Stoudemire is rooted in more than just getting him on the team to sell tickets and win games (just kidding, no one in Philadelphia wants that to happen).
According to Steve Kyler from Basketball Insiders, the 76ers will need to get over the minimum salary cap by the trade deadline which means that we’re likely to see the team trade for Amare Stoudemire then rather than now as they’ll need him in more than one way at the deadline.
"What’s far more likely is that the long rumored Amar’e Stoudemire to Philadelphia deal gets done at the deadline. The Sixers take on Stoudemire’s $23 million salary cap number, which pushes them way over the minimum. They would only owe him roughly 30 percent of his remaining contract, so they’d end up paying him $7 million in cash and likely extract a draft pick or a rookie scale player for their troubles."
There’s a chance that the 76ers are actually good this season so adding Stoudemire may end up being a good move but either way it may end up being a necessary move as the 76ers can’t afford to come in under the minimum salary figure at the deadline and adding Stoudemire will help them in more than one way.
