The San Francisco 49ers and right guard Alex Boone have been locked in a hold out over a contract dispute. Boone has yet to report to training camp and the 49ers are being equally firm in their stance.

In the mean time, teams have reached out to the 49ers to gauge their interest in moving the disgruntled guard. The 49ers aren’t interested in that option either according to CSN Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.

The 49ers have a couple options here, they can bend and workout a new deal which would violate their policy about not re-working existing deals. The other option is to let him set at home making no money and not paying him anything.

It looks like the 49ers have the upper hand in this stand off and they look content to continue to play Joe Looney at right guard in Boone’s absence. Just a couple days ago there was a report from CBS’ Jason La Canfora that said there was no progress in the talks between the two sides. It came just after reports that he turned down an offer that would put him amongst the league’s 12 highest-paid guards. La Canfora also reported teams interested in trading for Boone.
