The Cincinnati Bengals first string offense is rolling right along under quarterback Andy Dalton. After a perfect outing against the Jets in their second preseason game, Dalton went out and did much of the same — albeit with a few incompletions this time around — in the team’s third match of the exhibition season against the Arizona Cardinals.

More from Cincinnati Bengals

“He’s been outstanding,” offensive coordinator Hue Jackson said, per the Cincinnati Enquirer. “I think he’s getting better and better and better in all the different situations that happen. This guy is on his way. He really is and I’m excited for him.”

There’s no question at this point that Dalton can win an NFL game. Entering his fourth season in the league, Dalton has led the Bengals to a 30-18 regular season record. Unfortunately, the focus isn’t on that record as much as it is Dalton’s 0-3 record in the playoffs. While anything but an electric preseason would be concerning for Dalton, he won’t be able to shake off his doubters until he and the Bengals post a playoff win. Count Jackson among his believers.

“We have a quarterback we trust,” Jackson said. “I got to continue — which I’ve known, which I’ve seen from him — to keep finding out who he is. Will he take care of the ball? He did that. That’s what it’s going to take to win these tough games we have coming up here pretty soon. I thought he played winning football.”
