Colon is a guy who is far beyond the years where you’d invest long term in him, but he’s had just the right kind of year that makes him valuable as a back-end starter for a contender. That’s the thought when it comes to the Angels though as it seems you can never have enough starting pitching in the AL.
According to MLB scribe Steve Adams, the best landing spot for Colon is out west with the Angels and the team will find a way to make a trade happen based on sheer need for him.
"I think the Angels will find a way to make it work, marginal farm system or not, personally. They have the biggest need of the interested teams."
Colon has been experiencing a nice resurgence in his career and that’s made him a valuable trade chip for the Mets. They won’t clean up on a Colon trade, but getting decent return for a pitcher in his 40s is more than most teams can ask for in waiver period trades that get made in August.
