Mike Napoli busted the game open with a three run home run in the 11th inning of Tuesday night’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. It was no ordinary home run though. Napoli hit it into the 500 section, or fifth deck, at Rogers Centre. A place where few players have ever hit it.

Napoli joins a short list of players to hit a ball into that deck. Jose Canseco was the first to do it as a member of the Oakland Athletics on October 7, 1989. Jose would also do it twice more. Once as a member of the Blue Jays on September 5, 1998, and again as a member of the Rays on April 12, 1999.

The other players on this short list are Joe Carter, Carlos Delgado, Shawn Green, Raul Mondesi, Mark McGwire, Josh Phelps (twice), Gary Sheffield, Jayson Werth, Shelley Duncan, Edwin Encarnacion, and Manny Ramirez.

Manny’s shot traveled an estimated 491 feet, the longest in SkyDome/Rogers Centre history.

Napoli is no stranger to hitting baseballs into orbit at Rogers Centre. He hit two home runs in the same game there last year that travelled more than 460 feet.  Neither of them were hit into the fifth deck though.

He will get another chance to hit another up there tonight when the Sox take on Marcus Stroman and the Jays at 7:07 eastern.
