Los Angeles Lakers rumors: Was Ed Davis a steal?
After missing out on a few of the marquee free agents, the Los Angeles Lakers turned their attention to Memphis Grizzlies’ big man Ed Davis. They inked Davis to a two-year, $2 million deal.

Cody Taylor of Basketball Insider believes the Lakers may have gotten a steal in Davis.
"Davis will be entering his sixth season in the NBA with the Lakers come October and could be in a prime position to make a jump. Davis turned down an offer with the Clippers and decided to go with the Lakers where he feels he’ll have an opportunity to be productive. While Davis will be competing against Carlos Boozer, Jordan Hill and Ryan Kelly, he brings experience to the table and that could help him lock into a big role with the team. On a two-year contract worth just $2 million, the Lakers got a steal in the free agency class. Davis has proven that when he sees extended minutes, he’ll produce well so he should be a guy to keep an eye on this season."
Davis averaged 5.7 points and 4.1 rebounds in 15.2 minutes per game last season while shooting 53.4% from the field and 52.8% from the free throw line last season. Davis was selected with the 13th-overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors. In his four-year career, he has put up 6.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 54.2% from the floor and 59.6% from the charity stripe.
