Padres third base coach Glenn Hoffman took one for the team Tuesday night. Took one right in the rear, to be perfectly exact.

This screaming liner off the bat of Yangervis Solarte is ticketed straight for Hoffmanās backside and thereās not a damn thing he can do about it except take it ā well, get hit.

His butt can run but it canāt hide. Actually it canāt run or hide. It canāt do anything but receive the gift of a big old bruising hit from a foul ball.
They give base coaches helmets now to protect their heads, but what do they do for the butt?
When it comes to the butt, they got nothing. The butt remains unprotected save for whatever natural padding the coach in question happens to possess.
If Iām a base coach in MLB, Iām padding up that butt any way I can. Iām hitting the cheesecake and the pastries and the hams and anything else with lots of fat and stuff that will go straight to my can.
Maybe one day someone will invent some kind of butt padding that can be inserted into the base coach uniform, but until that day comes, it will have to be the fat padding.
All-you-can-eat buffet after the game Glenn Hoffman?
