Some people chase storms just for the thrill of it. And then there’s Melky Cabrera, who jumps almost out of his shoes at the mere sound of thunder.

More from MLB

Melky is safe inside Tropicana Field when thunder booms overhead, but despite the presence of a sturdy roof between himself and whatever might be rumbling around up there, Melky needs to call time out and gather himself.

I think it’s safe to say we won’t see Melky Cabrera piling into the back of a van and chasing a tornado up some prairie highway any time soon.

Well you really can’t blame Cabrera. Crazy stuff happens in storms. Sometimes you even get a Sharknado.

If a Sharknado ever hit Tropicana Field, that thing would probably rip right through that supposedly sturdy roof. And then there would be total carnage.

Laugh all you want at Melky Cabrera’s seemingly cowardly reaction to that rumble of thunder. He watches Syfy. He knows what can happen.

Even if it’s just a regular tornado and not a Sharknado, bad things can go down. Cows can be flung across highways. Houses can be dropped on witches.

Mother nature should always be respected. Melky Cabrera, he respects mother nature. A lot.
