Braves’ Jason Heyward slides for nice catch at the wall (Video)
By Hayden Kane
The Atlanta Braves entered a key series against the Washington Nationals on Monday night a half game back of the Pittsburgh Pirates for the second wild card spot in the National League. With an offense that has been truly brutal to watch in the last month or so, the Braves need to find a way to win games by whatever means it requires.

That falls on the team to receive good pitching, and if possible it means making some key plays on defense. That will be required so that the Braves can maximize the runs that they do score and hold onto whatever leads they are able to build.
Right fielder Jason Heyward plays a key role in those efforts. A sure thing to win a gold glove, Heyward has been one of the best defenders in all of baseball this season, making outstanding plays night after night.
Heyward came through in this game, making a challenging sliding catch near the wall. This came in a key spot, as the Nationals had a run on the board and two runners on base. If all the Braves are going to do is strike out when they are up to bat, then they might as well at least make big plays in the field.
