Now that the Cleveland Cavaliers have teamed up forward LeBron James, point guard Kyrie Irving and power forward Kevin Love, three All-Stars, including the game’s best player in James, they are looking for help in the front court. They have reportedly reached out to the Denver Nuggets about center Timofey Mozgov and have even reportedly offered the Nuggets a first round pick for Mozgov.

However, a deal does not seem likely.

According to Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors, the Cavaliers are unlikely to acquire Mozgov.

"Those chances are a lot lower than the Cavs would hope, Timofey. The Nuggets like you a lot, and for good reason, since you’re the most proven commodity that team has at center, outside of the undersized J.J. Hickson. If I were Denver, I’d ask for Tristan Thompson as a part of any deal, and I imagine Cleveland would want more than just Mozgov to part with him."

Mozgov is a solid player and at 28, he should be a reliable option at center for the foreseeable future. The Nuggets have playoff aspirations and can’t necessarily trust the health (or the consistent performance) of center JaVale McGee, who went down last season.

Mozgov took McGee’s spot when he went down for the season and went for 9.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. He shot 52.3% from the field and 75.4% from the free throw line. In his four-year NBA career, Mozgov has averaged 6.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 51.5% from the floor and 73.9% from the charity stripe.
