But it hasn’t always been pretty as Rose has been both explosive yet disappointing for Team USA so far this summer. But is it fair to judge him based off his performance on a team where he’s not the star?
According to Basketball Insider’s Steve Kyler, while Derrick Rose has drawn criticism and made folks skeptical of what he can do on the court this season, judging him off his Team USA World Cup performance isn’t really fair.
"Timing and confidence are huge, you can train to get yourself back physically, but getting your rhythm back takes time. I wouldn’t read too much into Rose’s status based on Team USA play… if its like this when plays are being run and he has his team around him then maybe, but two years away is two years away."
The major difference between Team USA and the Chicago Bulls is that Rose is the center pillar of the Bulls lineup and he’s spare parts with Team USA. He may not be thriving right now, but he’s getting geared up for the Bulls which is all anyone can ask for.
