The Cleveland Cavaliers are trying to fill all the holes they have on their roster, and that means finding the rim protector that they so desperately need.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

That’s why the team has been linked to Denver Nuggets big man Timofey Mozgov but acquiring him is a lot easier said than done. Tristan Thompson doesn’t seem to be enough to make a trade happen, but there are assets the Cavs have in order to at least make progress in trade talks.

Nate Duncan from Basketball Insiders opines that the Cavaliers would have to include Dion Waiters in trade offers if they want to land Timofey Mozgov this year.

"With JaVale McGee in questionable health and never the most consistent performer, I don’t see Denver giving him up. You are right that he is exactly what the Cavs need, which is probably why they don’t have enough to get him unless they explore trading Waiters."

Cleveland needs to find rim protection this season and they need to find it now. Mozgov isn’t the only option that they have at the moment, but he certainly seems like the best fit for what the Cavaliers need.
