John Calipari is known as a master recruiter and his latest recruiting ploy might just be his best yet.

Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojanrowski is reporting that Calipari is planning on holding a two-day scouting combine for NBA teams at Kentucky, where executives can evaluate Cal’s players in October.

"Calipari has invited officials of the 30 NBA teams to send personnel to Lexington, Ky., on Oct. 11-12 to watch his players do everything from run full-court five-on-five and NBA-style pick-and-roll sets to individual skill work. The event is a chance for Calipari to impress a throng of top high school recruits on campus visits and once again frame his program as college basketball’s best NBA feeder system. Kentucky is expected to be a consensus preseason No. 1 in the polls."

With Cal’s 2014 Kentucky roster full of NBA talent, he surely will be able to attract enough NBA executives to the event that will impress future recruits.

Also, if everything goes to plan, this should help the draft stocks of the Kentucky players that will likely enter the 2015 NBA Draft. And the higher Calipari’s players get selected, the more recruits want to play for him.

There will be no distractions in terms of scouts at practice for Cal and his players to worry about after the combine, which is another benefit.

"After the combine, Calipari plans to shut out NBA executives and scouts from his practices for several weeks – perhaps even months – into the season, league sources told Yahoo Sports."

Like him or not, there’s no denying this is a genius move by Calipari.
