A high ankle sprain could spell the end of Eagles tackle Allen Barbre’s season, reports ESPN’s Adam Caplan.

Barbre is scheduled for surgery on the ankle, which was injured in this Sunday’s game between the Eagles and Jaguars. A source says the surgery could be season-ending for the 30-year-old Barbre.
The Eagles lost left guard Evan Mathis to a sprained MCL in the same game, and could be without him for an extended period of time as well.
The 6-4 Barbre has bounced around a lot in his career, playing for the Packers, Seahawks (twice) and Dolphins before signing on with Philadelphia at the start of 2013.
Barbre began the 2013 season on the bench but was inserted into the lineup after an injury to Jason Peters and played well enough to score a three-year extension ahead of the 2014 campaign.
The Eagles are left with few options to replace Barbre at right tackle, and may have to sign a free agent or make a trade.
One possible free agent option is Eric Winston, who was cut by the Seattle Seahawks. Eben Britton is also a possibility.
The name Richie Incognito will be bandied about in Philadelphia with the injury to Mathis, but he could still be considered too toxic after last season’s bullying controversy.
The Eagles managed to win their opening game against the Jaguars but after going down a pair of starting offensive linemen they may feel like they lost the war while winning the battle.
