Will it be next to LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers? Or maybe the Chicago Bulls? Is a return to the Miami Heat in the mix? Or is Allen more comfortable watching next season from his couch? Well, Bill Simmons thinks he may have the answer.
On his podcast, Simmons speculated that Allen could be reunited with Doc Rivers with the Los Angeles Clippers.
I can see where Simmons is coming from. Allen and Rivers get along just fine, it was his relationship with Rajon Rondo that reportedly gave him cause to leave the Boston Celtics.
Now with the thee musketeers all in new places (Paul Pierce with the Washington Wizards, Kevin Garnett with the Brooklyn Nets and Allen a free agent), it makes sense that Allen may want to join up with his old coach again.
To return next season, Allen wants to contend for a championship and shoot a lot of three pointers. He can do all of the above in L.A. with Chris Paul facilitating, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan commanding defenses to pay attention down low and joining a group of other shooters like J.J. Redick, Jamal Crawford and others.
For the Clippers, Allen would give them two bonafide sharp shooters along with Redick and would virtually guarantee that they would always have one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA on the court at all times.
