Scherff had to be helped off the field, went in to the locker room for further testing, but came back out for the next series and helped his team in a big way on its game-winning last-minute drive for the 17-13 victory.
Iowa struggled in the run game during the period where Scherff was down and getting back in to the game, rushing for 24 yards on 15 attempts in the first half.
After the game the team was mum on the extent of Scherff’s injury, as head coach Kirk Ferentz wouldn’t divulge much to the media.
However, on Tuesday it is being reported that Scherff is going under the knife to have his right knee repaired:
Hearing word Iowa LT Brandon Scherff is having surgery this morning. He injured his right knee Saturday but finished the game.

Many NFL scouts see Scherff as a sure-fire first round draft prospect, with many seeing him as a top 10 pick in the 2015 NFL draft.
The extent of the surgery or injury is not know at the time of publication, but if Scherff is indeed going under the knife it will be at least a few weeks before he returns to the team.
Replacing him on Saturday was redshirt freshman Ike Boettger, and if Scherff is out for awhile all eyes will be on the play of Boettger going forward.
