The FIBA World Cup is going on in Spain as the games are getting down to the wire in terms of who needs to win and who can’t afford to lose. One team who many though wouldn’t lose was Spain, as the Spaniards were the favorites to oppose Team USA in the World Cup Final.

France had other plans though, as the French came in and not only upset the Spanish national team but did so in such a fashion that many from Team USA might be re-thinking how easy a World Cup Final without Spain might be. However, unlike Team USA, Spain no longer has to think about World Cup basketball as they’ve been bounced from the tournament by France.

Spain was the favorite from the start to possibly even beat Team USA, but Boris Diaw and his cast of Frenchmen were able to get past Spain in shocking fashion.

It was a shocking up set that now sees France advance to play Serbia on Friday with the winner more than likely facing Team USA. The Americans have to get through Lithuania to get the World Cup Final but after today’s upset by France over Spain, anything is possible.
