ESPN College Football Challenge picks for week 3

For those of you that don’t know, ESPN College Football Challenge is the closest you can get to college fantasy football on ESPN.  You get to comprise a roster of two quarterbacks, two runnings backs, two wide receivers, a team kicker, and a team defense.  The scoring is very similar to NFL scoring.

Last week, I missed with T.J. Yeldon, Jared Dangerfield, and to some extent, Connor Halliday. I certainly expected more than 19 points from him!

Here are my picks for week 3:

Quarterbacks:

Brett Hundley, UCLA: BYU’s Taysom Hill put up 34 points on Texas last week, and Hundley plays a similar style to Hill. There will be players who outscore Hundley this week, but he is about as close to a sure 30 points as you can get without taking a 50% owned guy like Mariota or Hill.

Keenan Reynolds, Navy: A matchup against undersized Texas State seems like a dream matchup for an option quarterback.

Running Backs:

Jay Ajayi, Boise State: He is still under 20% owned despite being the leading scorer over the first two weeks. He is going against a fairly awful UConn team. Look for Boise to run early and often, and for Ajayi to have another big game.

James Conner, Pittsburgh: He trampled Boston College for over 200 yards. What do you think he will do to Florida International with extra rest?

Wide Receivers:

Sterling Shepard, Oklahoma: He probably won’t set another career high against Tennessee, but the Sooners are going to need big plays, and Shepard is the guy who can get them.

Da’Ron Brown, Northern Illinois: He gave the Northwestern defense fits. Against a UNLV team that might keep it close, the Huskies will need to rely heavily on Brown again.

Kickers:

Louisville: Viriginia’s defense has looked really good so far. They should hold Louisville to a few field goals, making their kickers a pretty safe pick.

Defense:

Notre Dame: They did a number on Michigan. Now they get to choke a Purdue offense that makes enough of a mess on their own without any help.
